School Entrance & Door Access – Important Information
Dear Parent(s) /Guardian(s) and Caregivers(s),
To support the safety and security of our school community, starting October 5th, Lord Beaverbrook High School will be securing exterior doors during instructional hours, in alignment with CBE safety expectations.
Morning & After Lunch: Exterior doors will remain open for 15 minutes after the start of classes to allow students to enter the building. After this time, students arriving late will need to use the intercom to request access.
Access During the Day: Students and visitors who need to enter the school after the doors are secured can use the intercom at the main entrance to request access.
Intercom Access Hours:
- Monday–Thursday: until 4:00 p.m.
- Friday: until 2:30 p.m.
Please do not prop open exterior doors or allow unauthorized individuals to enter the building. Visitors are required to report directly to the Main Office upon arrival. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment at Lord Beaverbrook High School.
Calgary Transit: Safe & Respectful Behaviour
Parents, guardians and caregivers are encouraged to speak with their students about the importance of safe, respectful and appropriate behaviour on Calgary Transit. Illegal activities, disruptive behaviour, harassment, fighting, property damage, or behaviour that creates a safety concern are not tolerated and may result in enforcement action, including fines or a Calgary Transit banning notice.
Students are expected to follow Calgary Transit rules and respect transit operators, staff and fellow passengers.
If something is not going well on the bus:
- Immediate danger or emergency: Call 911.
- Transit safety concern: Text 74100 to report a safety concern to Calgary Transit. www-prd-cdn.calgarytransit.com
- Calgary Transit Customer Service: 403-262-1000 for general concerns or follow-up. calgarytransit.com
When reporting an incident, provide the bus route/number, location, direction of travel, and as much information about the incident as possible.
Student Parking & Passes
Many of our students drive to school each day, and we appreciate your support in helping keep our student parking lot safe, clean, and respectful for everyone. Please remind your student that all vehicles parked on school property must display a valid Lord Beaverbrook High School parking pass. Parking passes can be purchased through our Business Administrator in the business office.
We also ask students to:
- Drive slowly and responsibly while on school property.
- Respect other vehicles and pedestrians.
- Keep the parking lot free of litter and dispose of garbage appropriately.
Video Surveillance
Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Please see our school website for the most up-to-date information: LINK
