A Message from Administration

Personal Mobile Device Expectations

This is a reminder to please review the CBE’s personal mobile device expectations with your student. Students in Grades 10–12 are not permitted to use personal mobile devices during class time unless a teacher authorizes their use for a specific learning activity. Personal mobile devices must be out of sight, powered off or set to silent, and stored away in a bag, backpack, locker, or another designated area as directed by the teacher.

Exceptions apply for students who require personal mobile devices to support health or medical needs or specialized learning needs.

We appreciate your support in reminding students of these expectations and helping maintain a focused learning environment at Lord Beaverbrook High School.

Thank you for your cooperation.

How Is Your Child Doing in School?

It’s important to stay informed about your child’s learning, progress and achievement. Parents and guardians are encouraged to regularly check their child’s grades, attendance and academic information through MyCBE/PowerSchool.

If your child is not being successful or is experiencing challenges, please take the next step by contacting their teachers to discuss their progress and identify what can be done to support their success.

If you do not yet have a MyCBE/SchoolEngage account, please register here:

Calgary Transit: Safe & Respectful Behaviour

Parents, guardians and caregivers are encouraged to speak with their students about the importance of safe, respectful and appropriate behaviour on Calgary Transit. Illegal activities, disruptive behaviour, harassment, fighting, property damage, or behaviour that creates a safety concern are not tolerated and may result in enforcement action, including fines or a Calgary Transit banning notice.

Students are expected to follow Calgary Transit rules and respect transit operators, staff and fellow passengers.

If something is not going well on the bus:

  • Immediate danger or emergency: Call 911.
  • Transit safety concern: Text 74100 to report a safety concern to Calgary Transit. www-prd-cdn.calgarytransit.com
  • Calgary Transit Customer Service: 403-262-1000 for general concerns or follow-up. calgarytransit.com

When reporting an incident, provide the bus route/number, location, direction of travel, and as much information about the incident as possible.

Student Parking & Passes

Many of our students drive to school each day, and we appreciate your support in helping keep our student parking lot safe, clean, and respectful for everyone. Please remind your student that all vehicles parked on school property must display a valid Lord Beaverbrook High School parking pass. Parking passes can be purchased through our Business Administrator in the business office.

We also ask students to:

  • Drive slowly and responsibly while on school property.
  • Respect other vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Keep the parking lot free of litter and dispose of garbage appropriately.

Vaping and the possession or use of vaping products

We are reminding families that vaping and the possession or use of vaping products are prohibited on all Calgary Board of Education (CBE) property, including inside the school, in washrooms, hallways, parking lots, and on school grounds.

As outlined in CBE Administrative Regulation 4024 – Smoke-Free Environment, all CBE facilities and property are smoke-free. This regulation specifically prohibits students from possessing or using vaping products on school property.

Students who are involved in vaping incidents may face disciplinary consequences in accordance with applicable CBE regulations, including AR 6005 – Student Code of Conduct and AR 6006 – Progressive Student Discipline. Consequences will depend on the circumstances of the incident.

We ask parents and guardians to speak with their students about these expectations and the importance of making choices that support their health, safety, and learning. If students are experiencing challenges related to vaping or nicotine use, they are encouraged to seek support from school staff.

Thank you for your support in maintaining a safe, healthy, and respectful learning environment at Lord Beaverbrook High School.

United Space School

Who wants to go to Space School in Texas for the summer?

 Apply here:

https://thehangarmuseum.ca/united-space-school

WHAT IS THE UNITED SPACE SCHOOL?

The FISE: United Space School is the chance of a lifetime if you are considering going into a career in the aerospace industry.  High school students from approximately 20-50 countries spend two weeks together in Houston, Texas learning from experts in the field.  Applying to guestservices@thehangarmuseum.ca gives you the chance to become Western Canada’s delegate.  We are looking for someone who will be an enthusiastic ambassador for our country, on an international platform, and who will also benefit from the learning and growth opportunities that the United Space School provides. This is an all-expenses paid experience from The Hangar Flight Museum.

Once chosen, the student will participate in pre-program assignments to ensure everyone starts with a solid knowledge base. When the student arrives in Houston they will work together with other students to create a manned mission to Mars. They must interview for the position they desire on the team they want to join and show real intellectual prowess, as well as the ability to work as a collaborative team member, to accomplish this goal. Students get a real sense for what types of careers the space industry offers, and also get a sense of what the lifestyle feels like by being billeted with a family in Houston for 2 weeks during the summer.
