Athletics News 

All fall sports continue and all of our teams are having terrific season. Game schedules are available for all teams on the school website. Please note that students need to bring student ID with them to attend football games at Shouldice Athletic Park. Students are only permitted to attend games that Lord Beaverbrook is playing in. 

LBHS - Sailing Trip to the Gulf Islands
Dates: Sunday, March 15 – Thursday, March 19, 2026
Open to all students with priority going to Grade 12.   Trip is capped at 33 students, a waitlist may be randomly generated based on interest.

Post Secondary Applications

Beginning October 1, 2025, you can start applying for Post-Secondary institutes in Alberta. An application profile needs to be created on the Apply Alberta website www.applyalberta.ca. Once you application profile has been created you will then select your Post-Secondary institute of choice. For Out of province institutions, please see their websites for application process.

Scholarships

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Up to one hundred scholarships are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada. Half are valued at $100,000 for engineering scholarships and half are valued at $80,000* for science and math scholarships. Every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student each year to apply for the scholarship. If you are interested in more information, please see Ms. Mensink in Guidance

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award – Applications open November 1, 2025

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities. To be considered for the Award, applicants must meet be:

  • In good academic standing.
  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership

Have you shown exceptional leadership in helping to make a meaningful and lasting difference in your community? We’d love to hear about your community leadership efforts and what inspired you to get involved. We’re more interested in the mark you’re making in the world than the marks you’re getting in the classroom. The program is open to students with an average of 75% and up who are supporting positive change in their communities. Apply by October 22, 2025 at www.td.com/scholarships

Loran Scholarship – Deadline October 16, 2025

Loran looks beyond grades and gets to know each applicant through an in-depth selection process that is a personal growth experience in itself. Just applying for the Loran Award is a chance to reflect on your sense of purpose, your contributions to your community, and your goals for effecting meaningful change in the future. It is also a unique opportunity to meet other changemakers like yourself who see the world through a lens of optimism, courage, curiosity, and creativity. 

Criteria:

  • Be entering university for the first time in September 2026.
  • Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Be born between January 1, 2004 and September 1, 2010.

Course Challenge Guide for Students & Family

Students registered in a CBE high school challenging a 30- or 35-level language course. If the student intends to challenge a language course at a different level, or a course in an area outside of Languages, then different processes will apply. Students can approach their guidance counsellor for more details. The deadline for fall applications is October 1, 2025

Unique Pathways

Unique Pathways information night will be on October 8 from 5pm – 7pm at Career and Technology Center at Lord Shaughnessy Campus.

Student Night - Fountain Tire

Fountain Tire will be hosting a student night on September 23 at 6:30pm at Lord Shaughnessy Campus. Students must begin an application with Careers Next Generation and email resumes to Rahaf at raburashed@nextgen.org in order to attend.
