Student Services News 

Term 2

Term 2 will now start on November 17th, 2025. This means that students who have courses starting in Term 2 for example CALM, the first day of that course will be November 17, 2025.


Out of Province Fair – November 19, 2025

OOP brings together over 50 of Canada's finest post-secondary institutions from outside Alberta. The next opportunity to attend will be at Ernest Manning, 20 Springborough Blvd. SW on November 19, 2025 from 6:00-8:00pm.


Post Secondary Applications

Beginning October 1, 2025, you can start applying for Post-Secondary institutes in Alberta. An application profile needs to be created on the Apply Alberta website www.applyalberta.ca. Once you application profile has been created you will then select your Post-Secondary institute of choice. For Out of province institutions, please see their websites for application process.


Burger King Scholars

Award Amount: $1000 - $60,000

Applicants must be living in Canada and:

  • Have a cumulative high school average of 70%
  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2026-27 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or CEGEP or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada
  • Be first-time applicants who are graduating from grade 12

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Up to one hundred scholarships are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada. Half are valued at $100,000 for engineering scholarships and half are valued at $80,000* for science and math scholarships. Every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student each year to apply for the scholarship. If you are interested in more information, please see Ms. Mensink in Guidance


Terry Fox Humanitarian Award – Applications open November 1, 2025

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities. To be considered for the Award, applicants must meet be:

  • In good academic standing.
  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
  • Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.

GRADitude

GRADitude is a heartfelt initiative created to ensure every Grade 12 student in Calgary can celebrate their graduation with confidence, pride, and style—regardless of financial circumstances.

Formerly known as the Calgary Cinderella Project or the Grad Town. GRADitude  is a heartfelt initiative created to ensure every Grade 12 student in Calgary can celebrate their graduation with confidence, pride, and style—regardless of financial circumstances. In partnership with Trellis Society and Youth Central, we provide free graduation outfits—dresses, suits, shoes, and personal-care items.

To Participate

If you’re a soon to be Grade 12 graduate who would like to participate in this fabulous free event, complete the Graduate Registration Form. Spaces are limited, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.  

Donate Formalwear

If you have gently used formalwear from the last five years, consider donating it to change a young grad’s life! We’re currently accepting suits and pants of all sizes and long dresses sized 00 – 2 and 14+.  Sorry, we do not accept shirts or shoes at this time.

Drop your items off at the Stephen Cleaners locations in Bowness, Crowfoot, Hamptons, University District, Varsity Acres, and West Springs.

Unique Pathways Information Evening – November 5, 2025

Unique Pathways will be holding an Information evening at the Career and Technology Centre and Lord Shaugnessy High School, 2336 53rd Avenue SW, Calgary, AB on November 5, 2025 from 5:30 – 7:30pm. Please attend this evening if you are interested in Winter Unique Pathways programs.


Unique Pathways Programs for February 2026 – applications are LIVE!

CBE Unique Pathways offers a wide-range of unique opportuni​ties for students. These range from practical, hands-on learning experiences in Exploratory programs to Dual Credit courses and programs that allow students to participate in post-secondary learning with the support of a supervising CBE teacher. These programs allow students to complete high school their own way, and set students up for future success by easing the transition to post-secondary learning and/or the workplace.
